Earthing Up

I earthed up all the potatoes this evening and covered up the raspberries - all the flowers have gone and some are ripening.

This thing has been growing amongst the lettuces:

I think it is a 'salad leaf' plant that has got out of hand and is behaving more like kale. I've dug it up now and put it in a vase in the sitting room.

We've noticed the clematis at end of the garden is, in fact, alive - it showed no sign of life all spring and early summer.
